1) It’s been a while since the American churches have done anything out of the ordinary in the way of political resistance. Here’s a moderately impressive example, nothing earthshaking at present but nevertheless significant, from Alabama, where more than 150 clergy of various denominations have threatened to break the law. 2) A Muslim father in Birmingham, England, calmed rioting crowds after his son was killed in the violence. The Prime Minister paid homage to his brave intervention. It was hailed throughout Great Britain as a “decisive” moment in the crisis.
