In Ruminations, I wrote about the recent deaths of three brave, truth-telling journalists. Now Tyler Hicks, previously known only through his extraordinary photographs from conflicts around the world, shows that he can write, as well. He has written a heartfelt and heartbreaking story about the death of his friend, the irreplaceable Arabic-speaking Lebanese-American Anthony Shadid.
