A four-star story of redemption
Friday, May 16, 2008
Christiane Amanpour of CNN has done some of her best work here, but the chief actor in the story is the Holy Spirit. The slow transformation of this Rwandan woman is humanly inconceivable, and the repentance of the murderer is in that category also. Only the Spirit of the Lord can make such things happen. Let us not forget the pain that persists, for only in the final Day of the Lord can such wounds truly be healed.

Note: in his memorable book An Ordinary Man, Paul Rusesabagina (of Hotel Rwanda fame) describes the gacaca ritual. For more information on this book, see my April 2006 Ruminations.
